Another Site for Sore Eyes

See update below

In  another entry I wrote about Ofoto, Kodak's free photosharing site. Now I've stumbled across another one: this one is PhotoBox, in the U.K. The storage and access deals are similiar, although the British site sells additional space beyond 100 MBytes, while the Kodak site does not appear to charge for storage.

What intrigues me about PhotoBox is that they make Photogenetics available for free. This program is one of the easiest ways to adjust pictures you've taken: two versions of your picture show up on the screen, and you visually compare one with the other, pressing buttons until you've improved the second to your satisfaction. Then you save it. The program has a built-in pen for "red-eye" removal.

Photogenetics seems no longer to be supported, but it attained a high degree of development before it became abandonware. It works with JPG and BMP formats.

Sun Mar-19-2006  There are now many sites that promote various types of photo sharing, and Photobox, while still available, no longer has Photogenetics available.  Many of the new sites offer similar photo finetuning capabilities, such as redeye removal and special effects.
