We've Moved!
Yes, as of this morning, the webpages that you used to find at http:⁄⁄lptrain.dynu.net are now located at hudgie.com.
Why did I move? I've become dependent upon the website for a number of important (to me, anyway) functions related to the classes at the Lane Public Library. And lately, the free website service, located at Dynu.com, has been upgrading, with some inconvenient and lengthy periods of downtime. This is to be expected whenever a site makes major changes, and I hasten to say that Dynu has proven to be highly reliable overall. It's just that when you come to the end of a class and need a form processed for the evaluations, but the website isn't available, you begin to think, "Gee, if I were actually paying for this, mebbe the service would be a little more up."
In fairness, it probably isn't that Dynu isn't up. It's just that they're not very quick, in my experience, about letting you know that an upgrade has just knocked you off the net.
And so it came to pass that I went to a webhosting service that I learned about some time ago from one of my favorite sites, mugajava.com. This host offers an amazing combination of no limit on traffic and no limit on storage for a mere $1.00 a month, plus setup and domain registration fees. And while there are many other comparable hosting services, I've always found that mugajava is up when I want to touch base with her.
After all, that's what paid hosting services are for. The Internet itself was developed as a defense project that would route itself around any portions of the network that failed, just the way your telephone service does. So you're paying for reliability.
And why the weird name? Well, two reasons, I guess. Using a personal name tends to make things more personal, and using .com as the Top Level Domain (instead of .net) helps to simplify getting to the site. Just type "hudgie" into the Internet Explorer address bar, hold CTRL and hit ENTER and we'll meet again!
It'll take me a while to ensure that all the links are working, but they should be. Changing the links on over a hundred pages would be tedious, were it not for the freeware program, BK Replacem. Once replacement did the whole thing... I think.
If you're using the Change Detection panel to track this oeuvre, it may not work, as there have been some problems in their service recently. But one can always hope.
Thanks for reading! Welcome to our new home!
